Crisis issues of various aspects such as career, family and finance that cause stress have invited various issues of emotional well-being disorders and ultimately cause mental health to be affected and unable to commit to their career and show a decrease in performance and productivity. The crisis that occurs among civil servants in the state of Johor has become the main focus that must be addressed holistically. The creation of the Mental Health Strategic Plan by the Johor state government is intended to ensure that individuals, families, and communities are able to master interventions and respond to crisis issues experienced and ensure that the emotional well-being is at a positive level. In this regard, intervention strategies are important to help change behaviour among civil servants who are facing mental health problems and subsequently improve emotional well-being. Therefore, this study examines the effects of the Crisis Intervention Group Module (MKIK) on emotional well-being and mental health among civil servants in the state of Johor. This module uses the Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) approach in improving emotional well-being and overcoming mental health problems. This study uses a quasi-experimental design conducted among civil servants in the state of Johor, which includes 70 problematic civil servants divided into two groups, namely 35 in the treatment group and 35 in the control group. The instruments used were WLEIS (Wong and Law Emotional Intelligence Scale), PIES (Perceived Invalidation of Emotion Scale), and GHQ (General Health Questionnaire). Data were analysed using inferential statistics through SPSS involving MANOVA analysis. The results of the study collected on the treatment group showed that there was an increase in emotional well-being at the post-stage compared to before the treatment was carried out. The difference in the control group showed that during the pre- and post-stages, there was a moderate similarity. The results of this study have contributed to consistent positive behavioural changes among civil servants. Therefore, the formation of this MKIK will be a guiding basis for a robust module sustainability intervention to be used in helping to overcome crisis problems among civil servants, especially those experiencing health and emotional problems.
Dense air quality monitoring networks require affordable sensor solutions. We deployed 120 low-cost particulate matter sensors across Cairo comparing performance with reference instruments. Machine learning calibration improved accuracy from 40% to 85% correlation with reference measurements. Sensor drift patterns enabled predictive maintenance scheduling. Temperature and humidity compensation algorithms enhanced measurement stability. Our calibration framework enables cities to expand monitoring coverage despite budget constraints.
Sleep deprivation prevalence among university students raises concerns about academic outcomes. We tracked sleep patterns and grades for 800 Japanese students over four semesters using wearable devices. Consistent sleep schedules predicted academic performance more strongly than total sleep duration. Late chronotypes showed grade disadvantages in early morning class schedules. Exam period sleep reduction correlated with lower subsequent semester performance. Our findings inform university scheduling policies and student wellness interventions.
Housing shortages in developing countries require innovative affordable construction solutions. We evaluated engineered bamboo structural systems for multi-story residential buildings in Colombia. Laminated bamboo columns achieved strength comparable to timber at 60% cost. Connection design improvements addressed durability concerns in humid climates. Building code amendments facilitated permit processes for bamboo structures. Community construction programs trained local workers in bamboo building techniques. Our technical guidelines support bamboo adoption for low-income housing programs.
Citizen science expands biodiversity monitoring capacity but data quality concerns limit scientific applications. We analyzed five years of bird observation data from UK citizen science programs comparing with professional surveys. Expert validation confirmed 94% species identification accuracy for common species declining to 78% for rare species. Spatial sampling bias toward accessible areas required statistical correction for distribution modeling. Training interventions improved data quality while maintaining volunteer engagement. Our quality assurance framework enables rigorous scientific use of citizen science data.
International remittances constitute significant income for rural households in developing countries. We surveyed 600 remittance-receiving households across Philippine provinces examining investment allocation patterns. Education expenditure absorbed 35% of remittance income followed by housing improvements and small business investment. Agricultural investment remained limited despite rural contexts. Remittance insurance against income shocks reduced precautionary savings. Our findings inform policies leveraging remittances for productive rural investment.
Fashion industry environmental impacts drive interest in sustainable consumption patterns. We surveyed 1,800 Polish consumers across generations examining sustainable fashion attitudes and purchasing behaviors. Generation Z showed strongest environmental concern but limited sustainable purchasing due to price sensitivity. Millennials demonstrated highest second-hand clothing adoption. Baby boomers prioritized durability over sustainability messaging. Social media exposure correlated with sustainable fashion awareness across all age groups. Our segmentation framework guides sustainable fashion marketing strategies.
Antibiotic overuse in aquaculture drives resistance concerns requiring alternative disease management approaches. We evaluated probiotic supplementation in Nigerian tilapia farms examining growth and disease outcomes. Bacillus-based probiotics reduced mortality from bacterial infections by 45% while improving feed conversion ratios. Gut microbiome analysis revealed beneficial community shifts in probiotic-fed fish. Economic analysis showed positive returns despite supplement costs through improved survival. Our protocols guide probiotic integration in tropical aquaculture systems.
Globalization threatens traditional performing arts in culturally diverse societies. We documented traditional dance practices across 15 Papua New Guinean communities examining transmission mechanisms and preservation challenges. Elder knowledge holders identified youth migration as primary threat to cultural continuity. School-based cultural education programs showed limited effectiveness without community elder involvement. Tourism development created economic incentives for performance but risked cultural commodification. Our guidelines balance preservation authenticity with contemporary adaptation needs.
